Sharapova wins Memphis

1st seed Maria Sharapova won the Morgan Keegan Tennis Championsips in Memphis today. Sharapova defeated former Memphis champion Sofia Arvidsson 6-2, 6-1.

Those who are keeping an eye on Sharapova's serve will be pleased to know that she had service stats of 81% and 59%, she hit four aces, and she committed only one double fault.

The doubles championship was won by 3rd seeds Vania King and Michaella Krajicek, who defeated Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Meghann Shaughnessy 7-5, 6-2.

Diane, do you know if Bethanie Mattek-Sands will continue to play doubles with Nadia Petrova this season? They seemed to make a good team.

I'm not sure. They really are a good team--one of two teams that beat the Williams sisters last year. But I don't know if they're still a regular pairing.
