U.S. Open 3rd round complete

Those of us who live in the U.S. and do not have something like Direct TV are out of luck this weekend because the U.S. Open website and Tennis Channel live streams are not permitted as long as CBS is broadcasting the Open. I found some other live streams, which permitted me to watch a couple of matches not shown in full on CBS, but on the whole, yesterday was a bad viewing day. Today will be, too, and--I think--Monday, because it is a holiday here.

Of course, the big news Saturday was Melanie Oudin's upset of Maria Sharapova. But there were other notable results, too:

9th seed Caroline Wozniacki, who lost to her friend, 24th seed Sorana Cirstea, at the French Open and in Los Angeles, defeated her today in straight sets. Nadia Petrova continued her domination of Zheng Jie, and Gisela Dulko put an end to the run of Yaroslava Shvedova--but remember that name.

Yanina Wickmayer defeated Sara Errani, 6th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated Shahar Peer, and Kateryna Bondarenko was the victor over Anastasia Rodionova.

In doubles, all the seeded teams won in straight sets yesterday.
